RDOT Completes Summer 2026 Infrastructure Project

MILTON, RW — June 15th, 2026

Monday, the Ridgeway Department of Transportation officially opened the heavily anticipated Milton City Bypass, The George Tunnel. The George Tunnel connects Palmer and Milton City. The George Tunnel is expected to reduce travel times to Milton City by potentially as much as 1/4 the time from Palmer.

To get to the George Tunnel, you have to take bypass 795, which is a toll road that charges you $25 per time you use the road. The road is specifically designed for the George Tunnel. Speeds on the Freeway are 50 studs per second, with several areas for vehicles, like police cars, to stop. The tunnel is also considerably narrow, aiming for a constant traffic flow.

As of now, the only way to get to Milton city without paying remain by going all the way around on 395. The routes that significantly reduce trip time depending on location are the US-50 Dularge Bridge, and the US-795 George Tunnel which remain at a fixed $25 rate, regulated by Ridgepass and the Ridgeway Department of Transportation.

Also coming with RDOT’s new freeway are several new grand openings in Milton City, including a new apartment complex, a new gun store, the Relocation of the Milton City Branch of the Ridgeway County Fire Department, and more commercial space.

With these new openings, incentives, and more convenient ways to travel to Milton City, we can expect more presence and activity within Milton City, diversifying the lives people live in Ridgeway.
